Day 148: The end, Canada.

11.5 miles to the border. I left camp about half an hour before Grey Elk. It was beautiful out on the trail. No big storm yet.

We had a little climb. I felt tired. After the climb it was all downhill till Canada. I was hungry and tired but wasn’t gonna stop before the border. And suddenly there it was!

I made it!! I’m so happy to be here. So glad I didn’t quit. Grateful that I could do this, experience this adventure.

I had lunch at the monument, Ramen noodles. A bit of cheese. Peppermint tea with honey. I ate all of the leftover chocolate sprinkles. Dundee was here, and Tent-talker. I waited a little but Grey Elk and Captain didn’t show up. 8.8 miles to go to get off the trail.

While I was sitting here waiting for friends a couple showed up. And then they were talking Dutch. It was Morningstar and Cookiemonster. We finally got to meet!

The trail became bad the first 5 miles in Canada. Then a long roadwalk. It was so weird to hike the last stretch. I met a couple and they brought me to the lodge.

I got the hostel accommodation and it was just me and Tent-talker in here. I had a wonderful shower. I did my laundry. We had dinner. We felt surreal. The body feels aking, as if we will keep hiking like we did for about 5 months. I had a glass of wine with Grey Elk. image

Miles hiked: 20.5 (11.7 pct miles till monument 78 +8.8 miles into Canada)
Cpot along the trail (2638.4) – Canada (2650.1)
Weather: Sunny, some clouds and cold.
Countdown: 9 days done out of 9 days in total. Challenge completed.

Fantastisch!

Congratulations is such a small word to describe your accomplishment. I have received so much enjoyment in reading your posts these past few months. You are a PCT hero in my book. My only regret is that I was not able to run into you on the trail and be one of those fantastic trail angels. I had dreams of cooking you a pancake breakfast near Stevens pass since I was hiking in that area the last weekend of August. If you do more hiking posts please add me to your list. Best Wishes and God Bless, Mike K.

I’ve followed your blog since the beginning although I don’t believe I have commented before now. Congratulations on your finish, and thank you so much for sharing your journey with those of us who can only read about it (for now). I plan to hike the PCT in about 15-17 years from now, when my youngest graduates from school, unless I can find a way to do it sooner. In the meantime, it has been a pleasure to follow along on your journey. Best wishes for the future!
