Day 122: 1000 shades of green down through Tunnel Falls
We continued the Eagle Creek alternate. It was beautiful. It was raining this morning. But who cares, it’s town day! The wet weather made it look like a rain forest. It was stunning. There were more different leaves on this section than we have seen during the entire pct. I loved it.
To continue my response on the review I posted yesterday, it was beautiful. The brush wasn’t hurting my legs like in other sections. It wasn’t bad at all. And if these rocks were hurting your feet, maybe you shouldn’t hike it on your trailrunners that you hiked on for more than 700 miles. Ow wait that’s what I did, and my feet are fine. Lava rock is ten times worse. I loved this trail.
At around 11 o’clock we arrived at Cascade Locks. We saw the Bridge of the Gods. On the other side is Washington!
There were trail days in Cascade Locks this weekend. I left my pack in my motel and went over. The trail days were a lot of stands of gear and pct related subjects. Salomon, Exped, Mountain hardwear, Osprey, Gregory, etc was here. Also the PCTA and the Forest Service. Zpacks was here. They fixed the zipper of my tent on the spot! The part of the zipper that closes the zipper was worn and can’t catch the teeth anymore.
I needed new shoes. Sadly none of the outfitters were selling. But I could join raffles and competitions. At Vasques I could throw baggies in a hole. Out of four I threw 2 in the hole and one on the board, 5 points. The ten highest scores won a pair of shoes. I had the highest score! Check out my new shoes!
I had dinner with a lot of hikers. I saw Sherlock again. After dinner I went to my room and didn’t leave until I was hungry. Then in the supermarket I found Andrew. We hung out in my room for a bit. We had a couple of beers and watched TV together.
